Biography

John was born in Malta on the 25 September 1960 and apart from the period of his education in the United Kingdom, he has always lived in Malta.

After undertaking his secondary schooling in the United Kingdom, in 1983 John graduated from University College London, part of the University of London. He went on immediately to found Shireburn Software Ltd, initially focusing on information technology training but which soon developed into a leading developer of software products for businesses. The company currently consists of a team of 70 people with staff in a number of countries. John is Chairman of the company.

John is also a committed Rotarian and has held various prestigious positions in this philanthropic service club: Having been President of Rotary Club Malta (2009/10), he became Governor of District 2110, Sicily and Malta, Training Leader for incoming Governors 2020/22, and following being a member of Rotary's global Leadership Development and Training Committee (2022/23) he will be chairing the committee for the year 2022/23.

John is an accomplished public speaker at both commercial conferences and Rotary events and has been responsible for the organisation of over 15 conferences during his career including, most recently, the European Rotary Presidential Conference "Economy and Environment in Harmony" in March 2022.

John has two daughters, Yasmin and Amber, and his partner Monique Chambers is a writer and marketing specialist. John speaks English (mother tongue), Maltese and Italian fluently as well as basic French.
