Biography

Dr Tonio Ellul holds a warrant to practice the profession of Advocate in Malta. He holds a Doctorate in Law (LL.D.) and a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Financial Services, both from the University of Malta, and is a partner at EMD Malta, a multi-disciplinary firm providing legal, tax, advisory and corporate services. 

During his career, Tonio has held various posts . Amongst others, he was a member of the Malta-EU Steering Action Committee (MEUSAC) Core Group and deputy chairman of its Competitiveness sub-committee, a member of the Board of Management of the Teatru Manoel (Malta’s national theatre), a member of the Board of Management of the Mediterranean Conference Centre, a member of the Advisory Committee of the Council of Europe’s Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities, a member of the Council of Europe’s European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI), a Member of the Council of the Institute of Financial Services Practitioners (Malta), a co-founder and Member of the Executive Committee of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) Malta branch, and a lecturer and examiner in law at the Malta Institute of Accountants and the University of Malta.

He was appointed Honorary Consul for Mexico in 2022.
