Biography

Ivan Mifsud graduated from the University of Oxford in 1987. He read Earth Sciences at Oriel College. On his return to Malta he joined the family business in the Hotel sector. In 1998, he moved to Mifsud Brothers Ltd which was mainly involved in cruise shipping and travel. A year later he took over the destination management company (DMC) incorporated it into the business and re-engineered it to concentrate on destination services for the cruise and MICE sectors.

Ivan is constantly looking for his next challenge, having won awards for innovation in industry in the cruising sector and acclamations for the successful organisation of several high-profile events on the island. His hallmarks are his meticulous attention to detail and consistent reliability, 24/7. Also a member of FATTA, Association of Ship Agents, Malta Maritime Forum, SITE (Society of Incentive Travel Executives), DMCD (Destination Management Company Directorate), Malta Maritime Law Association, Malta Super Yacht Association, MedCruise Associate Member (active in the Committees for North Africa and the Post-Covid-19 Panel of Experts) and CLIA (Cruise Lines International Association) and FCCA (Florida Caribbean Cruise Association). He also represents Messe Berlin, Europe’s largest exhibition and congress centre.

In 2018 (17th – 20th July 2018) Ivan, together with the support of the SA Embassy in Rome, assisted Mr Danni Absolute in showcasing South African fashion design at an event held at the President’s Palace in Buskett. In 2018 (30/31st October 2018) Ivan greeting President Cyril Ramaphosa at the Ministerial Lounge at Malta International Airport and entertained him until his jet refuelled on the way for a Meeting in Berlin.

The Honorary Consulate is based in the office of Mifsud Brothers Ltd at 15 Lighters Wharf, Grand Harbour Menqa and offers limited Consular services and general advice to South Africans residing in Malta and Gozo or those just visiting. Requests must be sent by email.
