Biography

William is a co-founder of IHS Towers and is responsible for shaping the company’s long-term technology vision while driving innovation across the organisation. He has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer since July 2012, bringing over 27 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. Prior to this role, he was Managing Director of IHS’s startup operations in Nigeria from 2001. Before co-founding IHS Towers, he served as Operations Director at CELIA Motophone, a Nigerian GSM operator, from 1998 to 2001. Earlier, he worked as Project Manager at Lintel SAL, an international GSM operator, from 1998 to 1999, and as OMC Network Administrator at Libancell SAL, the first Lebanese GSM operator, from 1995 to 1998. William also serves on the boards of several private companies, as well as the Lebanese-Nigerian Initiative, a non-profit organisation, and is a founding member of the Lebanese Brazilian Business Council.

He has a bachelor’s degree in Computer and Communication Engineering from the American University of Beirut. Also William is the Honorary Consul of Zambia to Malta.

Being an entrepreneur he has started multiple startups and invested in and supported multiple startups in various fields including: Rural education and connectivity; Agricultural bio stimulus; various AI projects in Mining, Agriculture, Hydrogen, etc.; Medical drone delivery systems; Oil Production; Space; Robotics; Neurotech; Fit-Tech; Short Film App, etc.

He does not miss an opportunity to support start up / emerging companies as seed investor in order to support young people and promote all constructive ideas.
